First cypress
The First Cypress of North China, located in Shilin Village in Shilin Town, also known as Millennium Old Cypress and the Scared Old Cypress, was planted in the first year (543) of Wuding, Emperor Xiaojing of Wei Dynasty. The tree has a height of 26 meters, the tree circumference was 5.5 meters, and the crown was 156m2. It was lush, verdant and upright, and was named “the first cypress in North China” by the the original plain provincial government. It is only about 100 meters from the Liu-Deng’s Former Residence in the west, and during the “Stone Forest Conference”, the Chief Liu and Deng often played chess and discussed the situation under cypress trees. Hence, it was called “General-Officer Cypress” honorably.
